# Connect Codex

Codex can use the Companion's local MCP server when the server is present in your Codex MCP configuration.

## Configure the connection

1. Open Stellaris Companion and select a campaign.
2. Open **Settings**, then **MCP Relay**.
3. Run the health check.
4. Open **Show manual MCP setup** and copy the Codex setup command.
5. Apply it in your local Codex environment, then restart or reload Codex.

Ask Codex: “Use Stellaris Companion to assess my current campaign.” The client should select the Advisor Briefing before answering.

## Chronicle edits

Draft and revise Chronicle prose in chat first. Codex should call a save, update, create, or undo tool only after you explicitly ask it to send the text back to Stellaris Companion.

The MCP server does not edit the Stellaris save, run another model, or finalize game state.
