An Advisor Briefing is a purpose-built view of the current campaign. It combines the latest empire state, recent changes, selected history, known game-version mechanics, and advisor memory.
The built-in Advisor sends this briefing to the provider and model selected in Settings → Intelligence Uplink. Full briefings generally need an active context window of at least 32K tokens. A connected MCP client receives the local briefing separately and reasons with its own model.
Question-shaped context
For a strategic question, the briefing prioritizes facts that can change the recommendation. An economy question should not spend most of its context budget describing remote empires; a war-readiness question should not omit fleet composition, command limits, and replacement capacity.
The main MCP workflow follows the same rule: a connected client should request Advisor Briefing first and use narrower sections only for follow-up detail or a tight context budget.
Grounding and uncertainty
A useful answer distinguishes:
- facts extracted from the campaign;
- trends inferred from multiple snapshots;
- strategic judgments made by the model;
- information hidden by the selected player perspective.
The briefing can reduce hallucination, but it cannot make a model infallible. Treat high-impact advice as a recommendation you can inspect against the visible game state.
The current Companion knowledge snapshot covers Stellaris mechanics through 4.4.6. Treat “current mechanics” as that explicit scope rather than a promise about a later game patch.
