Chronicle

Every Empire Deserves a Historian

A chapter-by-chapter history of your empire that writes itself as you play. Wars end, chapters close. Crises arrive, new eras begin. It does the paperwork. You do the war crimes.

Narrative Nexus
  • Adapts its voice to your ethics — Militarists get war epics, Spiritualists get scripture
  • Permanent chapters that accumulate across sessions — your first era is still there 200 years later
  • Tracks 20+ event types: wars, first contact, ascension perks, ruler changes, crises
  • Rewrite history — regenerate any chapter if you want a different take
  • Persists per save file — close the game, come back next week, your Chronicle is waiting
United Nations of Earth
CH.I
Genesis of the Commonwealth

The year was 2200. Humanity stood at the precipice of the stars, united under the banner of the United Nations of Earth. The discovery of hyperlane travel had transformed Sol from a cradle into a launchpad.

President Chen addressed the Assembly: the age of expansion had begun. Three science vessels departed Sol within the first standard year, their crews cataloguing anomalies that would reshape humanity's understanding of the galaxy.

The UNS Discovery charted the Sirius approach. The UNS Horizon mapped the Procyon corridor. And the UNS Pathfinder — she found something else entirely.

Advisor

The Galactic Help Desk

It doesn't play the game for you. It just points out what you missed while staring at the galaxy map for 4 hours.

  • Spots your energy death spiral three saves before you do
  • Benchmarks your fleet against the Crisis — honestly
  • Roleplays your empire's ethics — a Fanatic Purifier advisor doesn't suggest diplomacy
  • Full personality customisation if the default is too polite

Advisor Bot Bot 14:02

"Yes, Grand Admiral, I see them. Combined hostile fleet power: 215k. You field 40k on a naval capacity of 220, which means you could field three times the navy you currently possess. Alloy production is 180/month and your three shipyards are doing nothing in particular. The good news is you can afford a war fleet. The bad news is you don't have one yet. I recommend building it before they arrive, which will be soon."

How It Works

Everything happens on your machine. We process your save, extract the important bits, and send a structured briefing to Gemini using your API key. We never see it — and frankly, we don't want to know what you did to those xenos. Here's what we extract:

EC

Economy

Resources, budgets, deficits, trade value, market prices, pop jobs

ML

Military

Fleet power, ship composition, naval capacity, starbases, wars

DP

Diplomacy

Relations, treaties, federations, rivals, subjects, closed borders

TC

Technology

Completed techs, research queue, traditions, ascension perks

LD

Leadership

Admirals, scientists, governors, traits, levels, ruler changes

TR

Territory

Colonies, planet health, districts, buildings, archaeology sites

EG

Endgame

Crisis detection, Fallen Empires, Great Khan, War in Heaven, L-Gate

HS

History

50+ event types, campaign memory, session recaps, megastructures

Frequently Asked

Is this a mod?
No. Stellaris Companion is a standalone desktop app that reads your save files externally. It never touches your game installation, doesn't break checksum, and your achievements still work.
Does it work with Ironman mode?
Yes. Because the app only reads your save file and never writes to it, Ironman mode is fully supported. No checksum issues, no achievement locks.
Does it cost money?
Free and open source. You just need a Google Gemini API key, which is free within Google's generous usage limits. No subscriptions, no paywalls.
Will it spoil the game?
No. The advisor only knows what your empire knows. It won't reveal Fallen Empires you haven't met, crises that haven't spawned, or empires beyond your sensor range.
Is this a cheat tool?
No. It's a strategy advisor and chronicler. It doesn't automate gameplay, modify save files, or give you information your empire wouldn't have. Think of it as a really well-briefed science officer.
What data is sent to the AI?
Your raw save files never leave your computer. The app parses them locally with a Rust-based parser, then sends a structured text briefing (empire stats, events, ethics) to the Gemini API using your own key. We never see your data.
Does it work with mods?
Yes. The parser handles modded saves. Extremely complex total conversions might have minor quirks, but core features like Chronicle and Economy Analysis work across most popular mods.
Does it work with Hive Minds and Machine Intelligences?
Yes. The advisor has dedicated personality modes for Gestalt Consciousness empires. Hive Minds get collective 'we' language, Machine Intelligences get cold efficiency metrics and logic-driven analysis.
Which platforms are supported?
Windows, macOS, and Linux. The companion is an Electron-based desktop application that runs alongside your game.
Can it help during the endgame Crisis?
Yes. It detects all three endgame crises (Prethoryn, Contingency, Unbidden), the Great Khan, Fallen Empire awakenings, and the War in Heaven. It benchmarks your fleet power and production capacity against the threat and tells you how ready you are.
What data leaves my machine?
During normal use, only your LLM prompts go to the Gemini API using your own API key. Save files are parsed locally by a Rust binary and never uploaded. If you use the Discord bot, your questions and the advisor's responses pass through a Cloudflare relay, but no game state or save data is included. Bug reports are the only other outbound data, and you review every field before sending.
What does the Discord bot send through your servers?
Only the text of your question and the advisor's response. The relay is a stateless Cloudflare Worker that connects Discord to your local app via WebSocket. Responses are ephemeral and only visible to you.
Do you collect analytics or telemetry?
No. There is no telemetry, no analytics, no anonymous usage data. The only network requests beyond your Gemini API calls are checking for app updates and fetching a public announcements feed from GitHub — both read-only, no user data sent.
What happens when I submit a bug report?
The app captures diagnostic context (app version, empire name, game year, DLCs, and optionally a screenshot) and shows you everything before sending. You choose the category, write a description, and review all fields. The report is sent to a Cloudflare Worker that creates a GitHub issue. Nothing is sent without your explicit action.
